We are a 3rd generation family-run business, owned and operated by Kim and Greg Berlin. Northgate Garage Doors, Inc.™ has been located in Marin County CA. since 1975 and the Berlin family has been in the overhead door business for over 77 years.
“My grandfather, Marty Berlin, played an important role in the early stage of the door industry in the Bay Area, starting his own overhead door business in 1948, located in San Francisco.
My father moved to San Rafael CA. in 1975 and started Northgate Overhead Doors out of his garage. Some years later he opened 2 more locations.
I worked with my father as a garage door installer for many years and learned all aspects of the door business; from sweeping the floors, to complex problem solving, to building custom doors the time honored way.
I am proud and thankful to have been able to learn from my father and grandfather. They taught me things you can’t learn from a manual.
In 1992, I took over the residential overhead door division and my father is still doing industrial doors today.”

Community Involvement
We support our local community by donating to various organizations such as Dixie Children’s Fund, Kentfield School Foundation, San Rafael Schools, and others.
Personnel
Our garage door installers and service personnel are employees of Northgate Garage Doors, Inc.™ and work is never sub-contracted out. A professional installation is vital to a long lasting garage door. Our installers have 5 to 20 years experience installing/servicing garage doors. Our showroom staff is available during business hours to answer your questions and give advice. All staff are friendly, experienced, drug-free and have passed a background check.
Insurance
Northgate Garage Doors, Inc. maintains General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Property and Automobile Insurance, and Surety Bond. If you need an Evidence Of Liability form or are required to be named as Additional Insured by your carrier, please call our office and we will gladly assist you with any requirements.
